Who We Are
Practice Your Potential
Walk As If is a VR soft skills training nonprofit helping people believe in, behave as, and become their confident future self.
How We Started: Building a Movement in Human Skills Education
We founded Walk As If on a single powerful belief: that while every person holds within them the potential to thrive and succeed, many lack the soft skills (we call them “human skills”) necessary to make success possible. Whether one is applying to school, finding work, holding down a job, navigating relationships, or simply trying to survive in unaccommodating systems, human skills are essential to help people show up, stay grounded, and move forward. As a VR soft skills training nonprofit, we focus on transformation that begins from within and grows outward—one choice, one interaction, one learner at a time.
The Heart of Human Connection and Emotional Intelligence
Why practicing human skills changes everything
At the center of Walk As If is our belief that communication and emotional intelligence are teachable skills, and vital for thriving in every aspect of life. Human skills are what bring us together. They shape how we listen, understand, and care for one another. They help us grow in our work, our homes, and our communities. The Harvard Graduate School of Education notes that communication and relationship-building are among the most reliable predictors of success. The Learning and Performance Institute adds that these abilities are becoming even more vital as technology reshapes how we live and work.
At Walk As If, we turn this understanding into action. Our immersive experiences help people practice empathy, compassion, and confidence in real-world scenarios, giving them tools to lead, collaborate, and connect more deeply with others.
Why We Use VR for Soft Skills Training
Walk As If leverages the super-power of Virtual Reality and AI to efficiently and effectively teach human skills specifically to under-supported and under-resourced communities. Our platform lets users build emotional regulation, practice challenging conversations, rehearse real-world scenarios, and simply level up their human skills over time. Grounded in research, our VR soft skills training nonprofit model delivers measurable growth that goes far beyond traditional classrooms or workshops. Learners report higher confidence, improved communication, and lasting emotional intelligence that continues long after training sessions end. Through immersive learning and VR education, we’re redefining how people prepare for life, work, and relationships, helping every participant “walk as if” they’ve already achieved their best self.
Our Board
Our multidisciplinary board of directors brings deep expertise in law, education, coaching, social work, and business. Having spent decades addressing the gaps in human skills education, we united to design a teaching methodology and technology platform that is both scalable and deeply human.
It’s not just training, it’s transformation. Together, we’re proving that VR soft skills training can change the trajectory of individuals and communities alike, one immersive experience at a time.
